MT Højgaard has a long tradition for construction of Hydro Power Plants in the North Atlantic Region - Faroe Islands, Iceland and Greenland.
As a matter of fact we have constructed all the existing hydro power plants in the Faroe Islands, where hydro power covers 40% of the consumption of energy.
Recently a Joint Venture with MT Højgaard as Joint Venture Partner has been awarded the contract for a 216 MW hydro power plant in Panama.
Typically MT Højgaard is responsible for the civil works or part of the civil works (dams, tunnels and concrete structures) for the projects, whereas we always have a partner doing the mechanical and electrical works.
