Wind Farm contract to MT Højgaard a/s - 07/11/2008

StatoilHydro ASA has awarded MT Højgaard a/s an EPCI contract for offshore foundations for the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm project.

MT Højgaard shall design, fabricate and install 90 off monopile foundations, of which two foundations are designed for the substations and the rest for the wind turbine generators. The foundations shall be installed during 2010.

The full execution of the contract is subject to offshore development consent from UK government and final investment decision during 2nd half 2008 for the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm project.

The Sheringham Shoal wind farm, 35 km2 in size, is located in shallow waters east of UK approximately 17 to 23 km from the north Norfolk coastal town of Sheringham. The water depth on the wind farm site is in the range of 16-22 m. If sanctioned, the wind farm will be developed with 88 wind turbine generators with a unit rating of 3.6 MW. The turbines will be connected via a network of infield cables to two offshore substations. Total installed effect will be 315 MW and approximately 1.1 TWh of power will in an average year be exported from the two offshore substations through two submarine export cables to the landfall and jointed to underground export cables. The underground export cables will then connect the wind farm to the regional distribution network at Salle substation, and further will overhead power lines connect Salle substation to the UK transmission network at Norwich. Completion and production start-up of the wind farm is planned for 3rd quarter 2011.

The Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm will be developed by Scira Ltd., a company purposely established for this development.

MT Højgaard is one of the leading companies in Northern Europe within offshore foundations for wind turbines, lighthouses, etc. The company established itself at an early stage in the growing market for offshore wind energy as an innovative design and build contractor of foundations by executing the 80 foundations for Horns Rev, the first offshore wind farm in the North Sea. By the end of 2008 MT Højgaard will have supplied and installed foundations for more than 1000 MW offshore wind turbines.
